Green Friday - Conscious Shopping Over Consumerism
Alex EimbrodtShare
Well… it’s begun already.
It’s only the 5th of November, but the emails, the shouty “DON’T MISS OUT!” ads, the flashing countdown timers — they’re everywhere.
It feels like Black Friday gets longer every year, stretching out into this loud, relentless push for more. More things. Bigger discounts. Bigger urges to rush and grab and stock up before someone else does.
And honestly? It’s a lot.
Every year around this time, the internet turns into a frenzy.
Big bold banners, urgent language, that pressure to hurry because apparently we all desperately need a new blender right now or life will never be the same.
But here’s the thing: we don’t believe in buying for the sake of buying.
At our core, we care about thoughtful consumption — choosing well, choosing consciously, buying things you’ll actually use and love. Supporting brands who care, not just sell.
So instead of diving into the rush, we’re doing what we do best:
slowing down, breathing, choosing intentionally.
Welcome to Green Friday.
Why We Don't Lean Into Black Friday
Black Friday thrives on urgency and manipulation, that “if you don’t buy it now, you’ll regret it forever” energy.
It encourages a culture of overconsumption, the exact opposite of how most of us try to live day-to-day.
We’ve all seen it:
- HUGE SALE! LAST CHANCE!
- Ticking clocks
- “Exclusive deal!” pop-ups every two seconds
Even the most mindful people can get swept up, it’s designed that way.
So here’s your gentle reminder to pause.
Notice the language.
Notice how it makes you feel: rushed? pressured? a little panicky?
Then ask yourself:
“Do I actually need this?”
“Or am I being nudged into it because it's 40% off?”
There’s no judgment here, just awareness.
Buy What You Need and Truly Love It
We’re not anti-shopping. We love beautiful, useful things!
We love food, home goods, nourishing products that support real living.
If you’ve had something on your list for ages and it goes on sale?
Amazing. Go for it! That’s intentional shopping.
What we gently resist is the impulse purchase, the cupboard-clutterer, the thing you forget about a week later because it wasn’t actually needed.
Mindful > mindless. Always.
Our Green Friday Approach
Yes, we do run a sale, the same way we run many sales throughout the year.
Not to fuel frantic spending, but to:
✨ help you stock up on the things you already use
✨ support low-waste shopping
✨ say thank you for supporting small, ethical, local business
We run fair prices all year because healthy, sustainable living shouldn’t only be accessible for one weekend a year.
Green Friday is our gentle little nudge toward mindful buying, even in a world shouting at you to do the opposite.
Why Our Sale Looks Different
You’ll see brands offering 50%, 60%, even 70% off.
And honestly, if a business can slash their prices that deeply, it raises questions...
We don’t inflate our prices just to “slash” them later.
We keep things fair, transparent, and community-focused every day of the year.
So when we offer 15% off storewide, that’s meaningful for us and a genuine thank you to you.
🫶 Watch this space: we’ll be sharing the details of our Green Friday offer soon. It’s your chance to stock up your pantry with the things you truly need and use every day. And if you’re still taking baby steps on this mindful shopping journey and it’s more of a want than a need, that’s okay too. There’s room for joy and treats in conscious living. Rest easy knowing your purchase supports small business, sustainable choices, and a slower, more thoughtful way of shopping.
